National Transitional Council (NTC) Extend NATO mission in Libya

Tripoli - Muammar Gaddafi in the Libyan regime has fallen. It is not yet clear when NATO would finish its mission in the country. Even the new ruler of Libya asks NATO to extend its mission. Office of the High Council of the National Transitional Libya (NTC) said they asked NATO to extend its mission in the North African country to another month. "I ask NATO to stay here at least until a month away," said interim Finance Minister of Petroleum & Libya, Ali Tarhuni as reported by AFP news agency on Wednesday (26/10/2011).

It was announced by NTC officials after days before NATO announced designs to finish the mission Libya on 31 October. NATO officials planned to meet on Wednesday, October 26th local time to make a formal decision about the plan to finish air strikes in Libya on 31 October. It is not clear whether the presence of NTC request, NATO will extend its mission in Libya. Earlier U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, in the work of a visit to Japan asserted, all decisions concerning Libya depends on NATO. NATO's mission in Libya has survived for 7 months.
